Our team at The Centre is committed to caring for our community. This month, we’ve decided to support Med 4 Our World—an organization who canceled their international medical trips in 2020 to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic right here at home.
What Is Med 4 Our World?
Med 4 Our World was founded by Dr. Christine Broday, ObGyn, and Valisha Chapman after they traveled to an orphanage together in Central America in 2010. It was there that an idea sparked to send healthcare workers around the globe to provide medical care to those in need. Since then, they have been coordinating trips in Nicaragua and Fiji with medical and non-medical professionals who have a passion to help those with limited access to health care.
COVID-19 Relief
While their team is inspired to work all around the globe, they have canceled their 2020 trips to work right alongside us at home to help fight this virus. Their team knows that as these weeks progress, our medical professionals will be working long hours, fighting exhaustion as they help us beat the coronavirus. So, they are planning to provide food deliveries to feed hot meals to our hospital workers.
Getting Involved
Our Team heard about this initiative and decided to help. Toyota Carlsbad, Lexus Carlsbad, Lexus Escondido, and The Centre committed to providing 70 meals from Panera Bread to ED, ICU, and staff members at Scripps Hospital in Encinitas on Monday, April 6th, and at Palomar Medical Center in Escondido on Thursday, April 9th. By supporting Med 4 Our World we were able to provide care to our medical and the restaurant industry in our surrounding area. We are so grateful for the team at this organization and their undeniable passion to serve.
“Our staff were so grateful for the meals that they received today! Thank you so much for the support, and the food donation.” – Scripps Encinitas Staff
What Services Does Med 4 Our World Provide?
Healthcare Services
Med 4 Our World partners with local hospitals, clinics, and NGOs to provide gynecology and surgical care in Nicaragua and Fiji.
Renovations
As they often partner with the local hospitals, they also help with hospital repairs. Each team consists of medical and construction volunteers and aims to leave each city they go to better than when they arrived.
Education
For these communities to sustain the care provided, the Med 4 Our World teams offer training to local health professionals and even educate the local community at large. They not only teach these communities about healthcare but also construction and how to keep structures safe to resist damage from natural disasters.
If you are able to support this organization during this time, please do. All of us need to work together to get through this. We can join together to provide care and support to those who are on the front lines of this pandemic. You can donate to Med 4 Our World here.
