teacup and pink rose Are you in charge of planning a bridal shower? Great! Bridal showers are a great way to get everyone together to honor the bride. We’ve gathered a few dos and don’ts to help in your planning process.

What to do when planning a bridal shower:

Choose a Theme A common trend among bridal showers is having a theme involved with the party. Make sure you consult with the bride about her likes/dislikes (but don’t give it away)! You should also make sure the theme is always age-appropriate for guests. Coordinate the Guest List It is important to always make sure anyone coming to the bridal shower is also invited to the wedding. If the bride has a copy of the guest list, you can kindly ask for it. If there are multiple showers, make sure you coordinate the lists accordingly. Serve Snacks Don’t let the guests go hungry! Most bridal showers will have some form of treats to nibble on (preferably ones that go with your theme). Small bites and hors d’oeuvres are perfect for this type of party.

What not to do when planning a bridal shower:

Get Overwhelmed No bride wants frazzled attendees at her shower — she wants to feel comfortable. If you find the task is too daunting, just ask for help! There are plenty of other people on the list that can offer some assistance. Cater an Entire Meal The bridal showers are not like a bachelorette party, and they’re not meant to last an inordinate amount of time. Don’t serve anything heavy, and remember that an entire meal is a little much for the context of the gathering. Be Afraid to Break the Mold Experiential bridal showers are the new thing and a serious break from tradition! From a trip to a winery, a fun workout at a fitness class, or the creation of DIY perfume kits, making the party into an experience for everyone creates a memorable event like no other. Remember, it is your job to coordinate the guests, get the gifts in place, and keep everyone fed — but your most critical job is to make sure the bride stays comfortable and happy. Overall, it can be challenging to plan a bridal shower, but exciting as well. With the right tips and tools, you can organize a fun event that will create a lifetime of memories for the bride.
