Graduation Celebration

Graduation season is just around the corner! If you plan on throwing a party for someone walking across the stage this year, it’s important to start planning early. Graduating from high school or college is a great accomplishment and milestone in life. What better way to celebrate than throwing a special and memorable party for the graduate. Here is a checklist of things you’ll want to organize as soon as possible.

Decide On A Date, Time and Venue

Keep in mind that some of your guests may have multiple graduation parties to attend. Do your best to pick a time and date that works for the majority — even if some can only stop by for a bit. Having the party a few days after graduation may help to avoid the conflict of overlapping with other grad celebrations. Have you found a venue? Book in advance, as the best ones tend to go quickly!

Make A Guest List & Send Invites

When it comes to creating the guest list, it’s most important to communicate with the graduate. Include those who have had an impact on their life and schooling from family and friends to teachers and mentors. Between traditional mail and the Internet, there are many options for sending out invites. Do what works best for you and the people you’re trying to reach.

Create A Food and Drink Menu

Not only is it essential to have plenty of food, but also to be sure there is something for everyone. Include snacks and finger foods that people can enjoy before the main entree. Catered food is a great option for minimizing extra work. For beverages, keep all ages in mind and provide several options for everyone.

Themes and Decorations

The traditional graduation theme is an easy go-to, but adding more flair never hurts! How you handle the decorations is completely up to you and the graduate, whether you want to make it extravagant or keep it simple. Pick a fun theme the grad relates to or simply focus on the grad alone. Customize party essentials, print out childhood pictures to scatter around or provide a book where guests can sign and share memories.
